Materna to develop AI assistants for German federal administration
IT service provider Materna has secured a contract to develop AI-powered assistant chatbots for Germany's federal administration. The four-year framework agreement will establish a technical and organizational foundation for new digital assistants aimed at streamlining information and services.
IT service provider Materna-Gruppe has signed a four-year framework agreement with the German federal government to develop artificial intelligence-based chatbots. In collaboration with Ubitec and PwC, Materna will implement the "Chatbots for the Federal Administration" project, part of a broader initiative to standardize IT solutions within the federal government.
The new digital assistants, known as "Bundesbots," are designed to enhance information flow and service accessibility across German federal agencies. These assistants can function as FAQ bots, voice bots, or form bots, utilizing AI to provide quick and accurate answers to citizen inquiries and to process applications.
The system's technical foundation will be operated by the Informationstechnikzentrum Bund (ITZBund). Materna will be responsible for implementing individual bots tailored to each organization's specific requirements, including adaptations for design, IT security, and data protection. The company has prior experience with similar projects for the German public sector.
According to Materna, the deployment of these AI solutions aims to improve efficiency and accessibility in the public sector. "This framework agreement underscores the importance of AI solutions in a modern administrative landscape," stated Michael Hagedorn, CEO of Materna-Gruppe.
