Matic, a manufacturer of robot vacuums, has announced an impending price adjustment for its Matic model, set to take effect on September 9th. The device's price will increase by $250, from its current $1,245 to $1,495.

The company cited rising costs for critical components, including memory and other parts, as the primary reason for the price hike. Matic stated that these component expenses have escalated significantly, reportedly by tenfold.

Customers purchasing the robot vacuum directly from Matic will receive a complimentary year's supply of replacement bags, valued at approximately $96. Furthermore, the company is extending its return policy from 60 days to a full six months for eligible purchases.

The Matic robot vacuum has previously received praise for its advanced navigation capabilities and efficient cleaning performance across various home environments, including homes with pets and thick carpets. It is designed to handle complex layouts and continue operation even if its water tank depletes. Its operational noise level is also noted as being sufficiently low for use during work-from-home scenarios.

Maintenance requirements are minimal, with the unit featuring its own water tank and a disposable bag system for dirty water. It autonomously navigates to a sink for refilling when necessary. A notable feature is its ability to operate entirely offline, storing mapping and other data locally rather than relying on cloud-based services, distinguishing it from many competitors.
