Matkahuolto Increases Package Market Share to 23 Percent
According to a Traficom report, Matkahuolto's market share in parcel deliveries grew from 19% to 23% in 2019. The company attributes this growth to investments in customer experience and digitalization.

Parcel delivery company Matkahuolto significantly increased its market share in 2019, according to a post market survey published by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom. The company's share of the Finnish parcel market rose from 19% to 23%, handling approximately 20 million parcels.
Matkahuolto states that its market share growth is due to investments in customer experience and the development of digitalization. Online retailers have increasingly added Matkahuolto as a delivery option, and private individuals are also sending more parcels through the company. The postal and logistics strikes in late 2019 boosted growth, and this trend has continued strongly into early 2020.
The company has been modernizing its services and expanding its delivery network. Customers can now extend their parcel storage time online, and in the future, home delivery can be ordered directly online. Matkahuolto plans to add nearly 300 new parcel lockers to its existing network of 1600 service points, increasing the total number of locations to over 2000 by the end of the year.
Matkahuolto also reported a substantial increase in domestic e-commerce orders in early 2020, with parcel volumes up by more than 50% compared to the same period last year.
