Matkahuolto provides information on Christmas and New Year schedules

Matkahuolto has issued guidance on its travel and parcel services for the Christmas and New Year period. The company advises passengers to purchase tickets in advance either online or through the Reitit ja Liput (Routes and Tickets) application to avoid congestion. All schedule changes, including holiday exceptions, are available on the company's website and app.

Last posting dates for parcels to arrive by Christmas have been specified. For domestic parcels, this is December 21st, while domestic home delivery parcels must be sent by December 18th. For express parcels, delivery times depend on origin and destination, with a potential last posting date of December 23rd. International parcel posting deadlines vary by country, with Sweden and Denmark requiring parcels to be sent by December 17th.

Matkahuolto's nearly 2,000 service points, including parcel lockers, K-Group stores, and R-kiosks, are open year-round. Matkahuolto's own service points will operate on their normal weekday hours during Christmas week and on Christmas Eve until noon, but will be closed from Christmas Day through to January 6th.

Customer service call center hours have been extended until December 24th. Assistance for parcel services for consumers (tel. 0600 11300) is available weekdays from 8 AM to 8 PM and on Christmas Eve from 8 AM to noon. Information on bus schedules and fares can be obtained 24/7 at 0200 4000. Social media support operates weekdays from 8 AM to 4 PM and on Christmas Eve from 8 AM to noon.

During the busiest season from late November to Christmas, Matkahuolto will deliver parcels to service points on Sundays as well. On Saturdays, parcels are delivered to over 900 service points across Finland. Sunday deliveries are available in the Helsinki metropolitan area, Tampere, and Turku. Home delivery services are also provided in the evenings and on Saturdays in major cities.
