Matkahuolto Supports UN Sustainable Development Goals
Matkahuolto reiterates its commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) on the occasion of the international SDG Flag Day on September 25.
Finnish transport and logistics company Matkahuolto has issued a statement emphasizing its commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). This announcement coincides with the first international SDG Flag Day on September 25, marking the eighth anniversary of the Agenda 2030.
Matkahuolto's internal sustainability program objectives are directly aligned with the 17 UN SDGs. The company specifically highlights the climate and environmental impacts relevant to the logistics sector.
"We aim to promote them not only in our own direct operations but also throughout our entire value chain. Our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals means we are involved in advancing international climate and sustainability targets," stated Jaana Korkiakoski, Sustainability Director at Matkahuolto.
The company's climate roadmap outlines over 40 measures intended to halve its emissions by 2030. This includes transitioning trunk transport services from fossil fuels to renewable alternatives, necessitating close collaboration with transport partners.
Korkiakoski further noted that Matkahuolto's sustainability efforts also encompass social responsibility objectives, such as employee safety and well-being, which are consistent with the principles of UN Agenda 2030.
