Mattel Launches UNO Championship with $50,000 Prize
Mattel announced its first UNO Championship, offering a $50,000 grand prize to the top player. The competition will feature qualifying tournaments starting in October.

Toy manufacturer Mattel has announced its inaugural UNO Championship, an event designed to find the best UNO players and award a $50,000 grand prize. The competition aims to engage fans and celebrate the enduring popularity of the classic card game.
The championship finals are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on November 11. A final championship game will be held at a location to be announced later. Participants can qualify through a series of online and in-person tournaments.
In-person qualifiers will be held in Kissimmee, Florida, on October 3; Chicago, Illinois, on October 10; and El Segundo, California, on October 17. Winners from these live events will secure a spot in the Los Angeles finals. A total of 150 spots are available for the in-person qualifiers, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Online qualification rounds will run through the UNO! Mobile app from August 31 to September 27. Participants must be at least 18 years old and legal residents of the U.S. This initiative follows other recent brand activations aimed at keeping the UNO brand culturally relevant.
