Mattel Releases Barbie Doll Inspired by Basketball Player Angel Reese
Mattel has released a new Barbie doll inspired by professional basketball player Angel Reese, celebrating her career and influence.
Toy manufacturer Mattel has unveiled a new Barbie doll modeled after WNBA player Angel Reese, also known by her nickname 'Bayou Barbie'.
The doll is dressed in a Barbie-pink uniform featuring Reese's number 5 and matching pink Reebok Angel Reese 1 sneakers. Mattel stated that the doll honors role models who inspire girls to imagine possibilities. Reese gained prominence as a college player for the LSU Tigers.
Beyond her athletic career, Reese has become a proponent for women's empowerment through her Angel C. Reese Foundation, which aims to provide equal opportunities in sports, education, and financial literacy for girls and underserved communities.
The doll is available for purchase on Mattel's official shop and through retailers including Target, Walmart, and Amazon. The collaboration also includes matching sneakers and apparel, released in early August.
