Matthews International Corporation Reduces Board Size
Matthews International Corporation announced that two long-serving directors, Katherine E. Dietze and Morgan K. O'Brien, will not stand for re-election at the 2027 Annual Meeting. The move is part of a plan to streamline the board.

Pittsburgh, PA – Matthews International Corporation (NASDAQ GSM: MATW) announced on October 1, 2026, that directors Katherine E. Dietze and Morgan K. O'Brien have decided not to seek re-election at the company's 2027 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
Their decision supports the company's strategic direction and the board's initiative to reduce its size from ten to eight directors. This change aligns with the recent appointment of Michael J. Whitehead as President and CEO, aiming for a more focused board structure to support the company's next phase of growth.
J. Michael Nauman, Chairman of the Board, expressed gratitude for Dietze's and O'Brien's years of service, experience, and commitment. He noted that their support for a smaller board reflects thoughtful stewardship and a long-term perspective.
This action follows several recent initiatives, including the appointment of five new directors since 2023, strategic divestitures of businesses like SGK Brand Solutions and its European packaging operations, and acquisitions within the Memorialization segment. The company has also enhanced its corporate governance and undertaken operational restructuring for cost savings.
