Maxon Cinema 4D Adds AI Assistant Support via Natural Language

Maxon has introduced built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) support for its Cinema 4D software, allowing artists to utilize AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT through natural language instructions. The update focuses on enhancing artist control within their creative workflows.

The new Cinema 4D MCP server enables AI assistants to operate interactively, letting artists review, refine, and iterate on AI-generated results. According to Maxon CEO David McGavran, this feature aims to increase Cinema 4D's power by automating tedious tasks without compromising the artist's creative process.

The integration supports procedural, iterative, and repetitive tasks, reducing manual effort and maintaining creative flow. Artists can direct AI assistants to perform actions like organizing scene hierarchies, creating object variations, preparing render passes, and handling basic 3D tasks using simple language commands.

All operations are executed using Cinema 4D's native tools on the artist's machine. The results remain as native Cinema 4D scene data, providing full control for inspection, modification, or undoing. The MCP feature is disabled by default and requires explicit user activation. It is available in Cinema 4D 2026.4 and later versions.
