Maxon Extends ZBrush to iPad Platform
Maxon, a provider of software for digital arts, has announced the release of ZBrush for iPad. This new application brings the capabilities of its acclaimed ZBrush digital sculpting software to Apple's iPad devices, enabling artists to work on 3D projects remotely.
The ZBrush for iPad version incorporates many features found in the desktop software, including a suite of digital sculpting brushes designed to mimic traditional sculpting techniques. The software utilizes the iPad's touch capabilities for direct manipulation and offers support for high polygon counts, enabling up to 92 million polygons per mesh on compatible iPads.
Key features such as ZRemesher for automatic retopology, Sculptris Pro for dynamic detail sculpting, and DynaMesh for continuous mesh modification are included. The interface is customizable, and integration with Apple Pencil allows for custom shortcuts for actions like framing meshes or activating PolyGroup functions.
Additional tools like Array Mesh, Dynamics, and Live Boolean are available to assist in the creation of complex forms. ZBrush for iPad is available through ZBrush and Maxon One subscriptions, as well as a standalone option. A free plan with a limited set of tools is also offered for new users. The software requires iPadOS 17 or later.
