Maxon User David Sujono Takes Second Place in 3D Challenge
Maxon congratulates David Sujono on achieving second place in the PWNISHER's Chasm’s Call 3D community challenge. The global competition saw over 3,000 artists from more than 100 countries participate.

Maxon, a provider of 3D software, announced David Sujono has secured second place in PWNISHER's (Clinton Jones) Chasm’s Call creative challenge. The global event encourages digital artists to showcase their creativity and technical skills.
This year's challenge tasked participants with creating a unique 3D render from a template scene, placing a character on a provided foreground shelf, and establishing a sense of depth. Over 3,000 artists from more than 100 countries submitted entries, with the top 100 featured in a montage on PWNISHER's YouTube channel.
Sujono's second-place submission, titled "Offside," was created using Maxon's Cinema 4D and Redshift. The piece visually portrays wealth disparity, drawing inspiration from Soviet architecture, Art Deco design, and video games like "Atomic Heart" and "BioShock." Sujono aimed to subvert expectations, suggesting true happiness lies in community rather than material possessions.
Addressing the challenge's time constraints, Sujono employed efficient workflows. He modeled the foreground architecture from scratch, utilizing instances, deformers, and cloners for speed. To streamline texturing, he relied on triplanar mapping and procedural textures, avoiding extensive UV unwrapping. Pre-existing assets were also incorporated to expedite the modeling process.
