Hangzhou Juntai Plastic Products Co., Ltd. has provided details on its Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology, a wastewater treatment method that integrates the strengths of conventional fluidized beds and biological contact oxidation. This approach is designed to be highly effective in treating various forms of wastewater.

The MBBR process utilizes aeration and water flow within the reactor to keep carrier materials in constant motion. These specially designed carriers, with densities close to water, enhance biomass growth and microbial diversity. They function as micro-reactors, facilitating the simultaneous processes of nitrification and denitrification.

This technology enables the efficient reduction of nitrogen content in wastewater. It achieves this by converting ammonium nitrogen (NH₃-N) into nitrogen gas (N₂), thereby significantly lowering the overall nitrogen levels before discharge.

By maximizing the use of the reactor space and leveraging both attached and suspended biomass, the MBBR technology offers a comprehensive solution for pollutant removal, aiming for optimal treatment efficiency.
