MDA Space Satellites for Globalstar Successfully Launched

MDA Space Ltd. has announced the successful launch of eight satellites designated for the Globalstar 2-R mission, carried aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The launch occurred on August 16, 2026, and the satellites have now been placed in low Earth orbit.

These satellites constitute the first set for Globalstar's updated satellite constellation. The mission aims to enhance Globalstar's mobile satellite services, which provide data and communication capabilities in areas lacking traditional terrestrial network coverage.

Following deployment, the satellites will enter a commissioning and testing phase. MDA Space is responsible for the design and manufacturing of the satellites, while Globalstar will operate them. This collaboration is part of a broader modernization of the satellite network, expected to improve service efficiency and reliability worldwide.
