MultiDimension Technology (MDT), a provider of magnetic sensors utilizing tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) technology, has introduced the HFM2905 high-frequency magnetic field probe. The product complements MDT's existing USB magnetometer series, which is optimized for low-frequency magnetic field measurements.

The HFM2905 enables real-time observation and analysis of magnetic signals up to 1.6 MHz. This allows engineers to capture rapidly changing magnetic field waveforms that are difficult to observe with traditional magnetic measurement instruments. The probe features a standard BNC analog output for direct connection to an oscilloscope or data acquisition (DAQ) system.

The probe leverages MDT's TMR sensing technology, combining a wide measurement bandwidth with high sensitivity to low magnetic fields. It integrates selectable gain settings and low-pass filters to optimize measurements across a range of signal amplitudes and frequencies. The HFM2905 is powered via a standard USB port, eliminating the need for an external power supply.

The HFM2905 is suitable for applications including switched-mode power supply design, power electronics development, motor drive analysis, transformer and inductor characterization, and electromagnetic interference (EMI)/electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing. It includes a dedicated on-site calibration device to ensure measurement accuracy and traceability.
