Mechanism Releases First Switch 2 Case, the Basecase
Accessory maker Mechanism has launched the Basecase, its first protective shell for the Nintendo Switch 2. The product offers protection, improved grip, and modular mounting options.

Accessory manufacturer Mechanism has released its first protective shell for the Nintendo Switch 2 console, named the Basecase. Priced at $49, the snap-on shell expands upon the company's existing modular mounting system.
Mechanism previously offered the $19 Basegrip, allowing users to mount their Switch 2 to walls, pillows, or monitor arms. The new Basecase shell protects the console itself, enhances the comfort of using the Joy-Con controllers, and introduces new modular capabilities.
The case allows for full use of the Switch 2's built-in kickstand and provides access to all ports. Additionally, the Basecase is compatible with Lego building blocks and minifigures due to its rear plate, though this feature is not officially supported.
Mechanism focuses on creating accessories for gaming consoles, and the Basecase marks the company's first product for the Switch 2 following some delays. Previous products from the manufacturer include cases and mounts for devices like the Game Boy Advance SP and Nintendo DS Lite.
