Media Professionals Visit Schools for #SchoolForPressFreedom Week
An initiative from May 4-8 will bring media professionals into classrooms in Hesse, Germany, for workshops on press freedom and media literacy for students aged 14 and above. School registrations are open until March 6.

The German Association of Digital Publishers and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV) is organizing the #SchoolForPressFreedom campaign from May 4-8, coinciding with the International Day of Press Freedom. The initiative aims to enhance media literacy among students in Hesse, Germany, starting from the 8th grade (typically age 14).
The campaign will focus on current challenges facing journalism and democracy, including press freedom, fake news, media manipulation, and critical source evaluation. Editors, reporters, producers, and media educators will offer insights into their daily work, explain research strategies, and discuss journalistic responsibility. The core message is: "Understand news, check facts, discover truth."
Workshops and discussions will be offered either online or in-person at schools and media houses during school hours. Participation is free of charge. A wide range of media companies, broadcasters, educational institutions, and media organizations are involved, with support from the state of Hesse. This marks the sixth year the campaign is being held.
Teachers can register their classes for the program until March 6 via the eveeno.com/229424318 platform. The sessions will range in duration from a single school hour to a full project day.
