This comes as India's Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI) has intensified efforts to combat AI-enabled spam, including instructing telecom operators to share signals from their AI-based spam detection systems on a common blockchain platform.
AI is making spam more sophisticated and scalable, with techniques like voice cloning, conversational bots, deepfakes, and personalized phishing becoming more prevalent. This evolution poses a broader trust and safety challenge that extends beyond traditional telecommunications regulation, affecting messaging services, financial institutions, and consumer protection systems.
