Milwaukee, WI – The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) officially dedicated the Michels Center for Cancer Discovery on Monday, acknowledging a transformative $27 million gift from Tim and Barbara Michels and the Michels Family Foundation. The donation, announced in June 2026, is intended to accelerate cancer research and enhance personalized cancer care.

Family members joined MCW leadership, researchers, and clinicians for the unveiling ceremony on MCW's Milwaukee campus. The center represents a significant investment aimed at translating cancer research breakthroughs into improved patient outcomes.

"We're honored to have our family's name associated with the groundbreaking cancer discoveries taking place at the Medical College of Wisconsin," stated Tim and Barbara Michels. "We believe in the cancer researchers here and want to help accelerate their relentless pursuit of more answers, more treatments, and more hope for patients and their families."

The 161,000-square-foot Michels Center for Cancer Discovery is the only facility in eastern Wisconsin exclusively dedicated to cancer research, housing over 300 scientists and staff.
