MedStar Georgetown Transplant Surgeon Appointed to Lead International Society
WASHINGTON — Gabriel Gondolesi, MD, director of Pediatric Liver Transplantation and associate director of Intestinal Transplantation at MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute, has been named president-elect of The Transplantation Society (TTS). Dr. Gondolesi will begin his two-year term in September.
His appointment marks a historic moment, as he becomes the first president-elect of TTS from Latin America. The Transplantation Society serves as an international forum dedicated to advancing organ transplantation worldwide.
"As a transplant surgeon originally trained in Argentina, I am particularly honored to represent Latin America as the first TTS president-elect from the region," Dr. Gondolesi stated. "This achievement represents the culmination of 25 years of involvement with TTS."
Dr. Gondolesi's clinical expertise centers on pediatric liver transplants and the care of both pediatric and adult intestinal transplant patients. He advocates for a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to patient care. MedStar Georgetown leadership noted that his selection highlights the institute's capabilities and excellence in transplantation.
