Mehdi Hadi Explores Memory and Humanity in Future Dystopia

Mehdi Hadi's newest project, "Memories," premiered at the Motion Plus Design event in Paris, presenting a post-apocalyptic vision that explores the fragility of humanity and memory. Known for his cinematic style and ability to create engaging visuals, Hadi utilized ZBrush, Cinema 4D, and Substance Painter to build a narrative set in an abandoned, technology-driven world, questioning what remains after the collapse of a robot-controlled civilization.

The project draws significant inspiration from films such as "Blade Runner" and "Akira." Hadi describes his transition to a more directorial role as organic, stemming from his extensive experience as a motion designer where he consistently managed projects from conception to final output. This hands-on approach allowed for a seamless evolution into directing.

"Memories" is further influenced by photography of industrial landscapes and abandoned locations. Hadi aimed to craft a visual experience that feels like an imperfect yet beautiful recollection. He emphasizes the crucial role of color grading in establishing mood, integrating it early in the production process to achieve the desired tone and visual identity.
