Meijer implements holiday pricing for Thanksgiving staples

Midwest-based retailer Meijer has announced a series of price reductions on Thanksgiving staples, including frozen turkeys priced at 79 cents per pound through November 26. The promotion is structured to allow customers to assemble a traditional holiday dinner for ten people for a total cost of less than $35.

The meal package includes standard holiday items ranging from potatoes and green beans to baking ingredients for pumpkin pie. Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer Don Sanderson noted that the initiative is intended to assist families in managing holiday expenses amid ongoing price sensitivity in the retail sector.

In addition to the Thanksgiving-specific offers, Meijer has applied discounts of up to 45 percent on more than 80 private-label items, including pantry staples and food storage products. These extended promotions are scheduled to run through December 24. The company expects high volume during this period, projecting sales of over one million turkeys and several million pounds of potatoes.
