Meituan and McDonald's Launch First Dedicated Drone Delivery Route for Restaurant Brand in China
Meituan has launched a low-altitude delivery network in Shanghai's West Bund, inaugurating China's first dedicated drone delivery route for a restaurant brand in collaboration with McDonald's.

Meituan has established a low-altitude delivery network in Shanghai's West Bund area, launching China's first dedicated drone delivery route specifically for a restaurant brand, in partnership with McDonald's.
The network connects multiple locations within the West Bund and currently includes nearly 20 restaurant chains. Meituan expects this number to exceed 40 by the end of the year. Utilizing its fourth-generation M-Drone 4L Winch, M-Port 3 drone ports, and M-DaaS 3 scheduling system, the company states that the fastest deliveries can reach customers in as little as 10 minutes.
This initiative represents a significant advancement in automated food delivery within China. The use of low-altitude flight paths aims to enable faster and more efficient deliveries in densely populated urban environments, bypassing ground traffic congestion.
The technology is anticipated to improve delivery speeds and potentially reduce operational costs over time, while also allowing for broader service coverage. Meituan intends to continue expanding its network and integrating additional restaurant partners into the system.
