Meituan rolls out new national standard shared charging stations

Meituan has begun deploying new shared charging stations compliant with China's updated national safety standards. The units feature enhanced battery capacity and faster charging output.

11 October 2026

Meituan, the Chinese tech conglomerate, is deploying a new generation of its shared charging stations that adhere to China's updated national safety standards. These new devices are certified under GB 47372-2026, which introduces stricter regulations for battery safety and performance.

The upgraded charging stations are equipped with a 7500mAh battery core and support up to 22.5W fast charging output. They feature integrated dual cables, including USB-C and Lightning connectors, to ensure compatibility with a wide range of mobile devices. By adopting these new standards, Meituan aims to enhance the reliability and safety of its widely used shared charging services.

China's new national standard, GB 47372-2026, officially takes effect on April 1, 2027. It mandates higher requirements for battery cell safety, cycle life, abnormal recording, and product traceability. The phased rollout of these new units represents a broader safety upgrade intended to ensure the secure operation of shared charging devices within consumer environments.
