Menlo Ventures Raises $3 Billion for AI Investments

Menlo Ventures, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm, has announced it has raised $3 billion in new capital across two funds, representing the largest sum raised in its 50-year history. The funds are designated for investments in artificial intelligence companies.

The new capital will be deployed across the AI market, targeting companies from foundational models and infrastructure to enterprise, healthcare, and consumer applications. Menlo Ventures XVII will focus on seed and Series A stage companies, while Menlo Inflection IV will provide growth capital for startups at Series B and beyond.

This significant capital infusion allows Menlo Ventures to support companies from their inception through later-stage funding rounds, which can require substantial investments. The allocation underscores the increasing importance of AI to the firm, which has a history of investing in prominent tech companies like Uber, Roku, and Siri.

Among Menlo Ventures' key AI investments is Anthropic, an AI model developer the firm first backed in 2023. Other AI-related portfolio companies include app-building platform Lovable, music generation startup Suno, and AI infrastructure firms Fireworks AI and Modal.
