Mentha Oil Prices Show Mixed Movements in Q1 2026

Mentha oil prices showed divergent trends globally during the first quarter of 2026. The commodity, essential for pharmaceuticals, confectionery, oral hygiene products, and cosmetics, reacted to varying supply and demand dynamics in different regions. Developed through steam distillation of Mentha arvensis leaves, the oil's price is influenced by harvest yields, energy costs, and global shipping rates.

In the United States, prices rose 1.18% to $17.2 per KG. This uptick was attributed to tighter domestic inventories and limited availability of high-menthol content grades, compounded by extended lead times on shipments from Asia, prompting buyers to favor forward contracting.

India experienced a 2.50% price increase to $16.4 per KG. This rise was driven by reduced crop arrivals and export commitments that depleted regional availability, leading to controlled selling by producers anticipating higher returns.

European markets displayed mixed results. Germany saw a slight decrease of 0.45% to $21.9 per KG, benefiting from improved import logistics and increased supply availability. Conversely, the United Kingdom witnessed a 2.50% rise to $20.5 per KG, supported by steady demand across oral hygiene and confectionery sectors amid constrained supply. France's prices edged up 1.25% to $24.3 per KG due to firm demand from premium cosmetic and pharmaceutical buyers for selective, high-purity grades.

The global mentha oil industry was valued at $597.60 million in 2025 and is projected to grow to $1.08 billion by 2034, with a compound annual growth rate of 6.84%. Persistent demand from the pharmaceutical sector and a growing preference for natural ingredients in personal care products are expected to underpin this growth.
