Mercantile Space Partners Rivada for Secure Satellite Network
Mercantile Space and Rivada Space Networks are partnering to deploy a next-generation satellite network in Nepal, aimed at providing secure and high-speed connectivity for government and enterprise clients.

Mercantile Space, a telecommunications technology provider based in Nepal, has entered into a partnership with Rivada Space Networks to establish a new generation of satellite connectivity. The collaboration aims to meet the growing demand for fast and secure data communications, particularly for governmental and enterprise sectors.
Rivada's 'Outernet' network utilizes a constellation of 600 low-earth orbit satellites equipped with inter-satellite laser links. This creates a global optical mesh network in space, designed to offer fiber-like speeds with extended reach. Security is a key feature, as the system routes data directly between satellites, bypassing terrestrial gateways which are often targets for cyber threats.
The partnership intends to leverage Rivada's network to overcome connectivity challenges in Nepal's remote and geographically difficult regions. The Outernet's satellite architecture is expected to bridge existing gaps, providing a stable and resilient solution for digital transformation initiatives.
This initiative is anticipated to significantly enhance data security and transmission efficiency within the region. It addresses increasing global demands for data sovereignty and robust cybersecurity measures in the evolving digital landscape.
