Mercedes-AMG limits simulated engine sounds by vehicle trim level

Mercedes-AMG will differentiate its upcoming electric performance vehicles by locking simulated engine sounds behind specific model tiers.

21 October 2026

Mercedes-AMG is set to deploy its AMGForce Sport+ system, which simulates internal combustion engine sounds in its upcoming electric GT SUV and four-door coupe models. The manufacturer has opted to segment these audio profiles based on the vehicle's position within the performance hierarchy.

While the entry-level GT 53 will feature a simulated inline-six engine sound, the higher-performance GT 55 and GT 63 models will exclusively offer V8-based audio. Mercedes-AMG stated that this segmentation is intended to maintain consistency with the company's long-standing product structure, where specific model designations have historically been tethered to certain engine configurations.

Industry observers have questioned this strategy, noting that because the feature relies on digital software rather than mechanical hardware, the simulated sounds could theoretically be applied across all variants. The debate highlights the broader tension between legacy brand identity and the flexibility afforded by electric vehicle software.
