Mercedes-Benz and Nvidia Deepen Partnership on Driver Assistance Systems
Mercedes-Benz and Nvidia have expanded their strategic collaboration to jointly develop next-generation driver assistance systems and future autonomous driving applications.
German automaker Mercedes-Benz and U.S. technology firm Nvidia announced on October 16th that they are deepening their strategic cooperation to develop next-generation driver assistance systems. The partnership will integrate Mercedes-Benz's automotive engineering expertise, safety knowledge, and MB.OS operating system with Nvidia's accelerated computing and AI technologies.
The collaboration aims to support advanced driver assistance functionalities and future SAE Level 4 autonomous driving applications, including self-driving luxury sedans. Mercedes-Benz's MB.OS operating system will support new driving features and over-the-air (OTA) updates, operating in conjunction with Nvidia's Hyperion computing and sensor architecture.
Nvidia's Alpamayo Stack provides a full software stack with AI inference capabilities, supporting city point-to-point driver assistance, active safety, and automated parking. Nvidia Halos further enhances Mercedes-Benz's safety framework with parallel safety technology stacks offering redundancy and assurance.
Beyond driver assistance, Mercedes-Benz is also adopting Nvidia technology within its MO360 ecosystem for automotive engineering simulation and digital production. This effort seeks to further improve the efficiency, flexibility, and quality of Mercedes-Benz's global production network.
