Mercedes-Benz has officially launched its new long-wheelbase GLE SUV in China, with prices commencing at 599,800 yuan (approximately $82,000 USD). This launch signifies the first time the GLE series is produced locally within China. The vehicle boasts an extended wheelbase of 3115mm, an increase of 120mm over the standard import version, primarily to offer more spacious rear seating.

The updated GLE features Mercedes-Benz's signature design language, including a distinctive front grille and updated lighting. Its exterior dimensions measure 5051mm in length, 2018mm in width, and 1784mm in height. The interior is equipped with a modern dashboard featuring a triple-screen display setup and rear entertainment screens.

Technological advancements include integrated AI assistants and preparation for future updates to advanced driver-assistance systems, promising enhanced navigation capabilities for both urban and highway driving. This focus on technology aims to meet the evolving demands of the premium automotive segment in China.

Powertrain options include a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine (190 kW) for the GLE 350 L variant and a 3.0-liter engine (280 kW) for the GLE 450 L. Both models come standard with the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. The 3.0-liter version also includes air suspension and adjustable dampers.

The model range includes several configurations, with prices ranging from 599,800 yuan to 767,800 yuan. A special 140th Anniversary Edition is also available within this pricing structure.
