Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 30,064 vehicles in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The issue stems from the potential for the front brake hoses to rupture and leak brake fluid, which could extend braking distance and increase the risk of a collision.

The recall affects certain 2022-2025 model year S 500 4MATIC, Maybach S 580 4MATIC, Maybach S 680 4MATIC, and S 580 4MATIC vehicles, as well as some 2023-2025 S 580 E 4MATIC and 2024-2025 AMG S 63 E 4MATIC+ models. The vehicles are equipped with a dual-circuit braking system. If one circuit fails, the intact backup circuit can still maintain some braking capability, but the braking performance will be significantly reduced.

Drivers may not notice any signs before the hose ruptures. A red brake fluid warning light on the instrument cluster will illuminate only when the leak reaches a threshold that triggers the alert. This situation highlights the critical nature of the braking system's integrity and the importance of timely maintenance.

Authorized Mercedes-Benz dealerships have received technical service instructions and will replace both front brake hoses on affected vehicles free of charge. Mercedes-Benz is scheduled to notify owners by mail no later than November 27, 2026.
