Mercedes-Benz upgrades China-market E-Class with AI cockpit integration
Mercedes-Benz has launched an updated long-wheelbase E-Class in China, featuring a localized AI-driven cockpit developed by its domestic research team.

Mercedes-Benz introduced updated long-wheelbase E-Class models in China on November 2, with prices for the three E 300 L variants ranging from 423,800 to 509,800 RMB. The cockpit interface and underlying technology were developed under the direction of the company’s local research and development division.
The updated system incorporates ByteDance’s Doubao artificial intelligence model into the virtual assistant and adds Huawei HiCar support alongside existing Apple CarPlay functionality. New features include screen-based command inputs and voiceprint recognition capable of identifying up to six individual users. Drivers can also configure personalized vehicle routines based on specific triggers.
The system is designed to receive quarterly over-the-air (OTA) software updates. Mercedes-Benz plans to integrate this technology across a wider range of its combustion-engine and electric vehicle lineup in the future.
