Merchant of Tennis reaches settlement in 2024 data breach litigation
The Merchant of Tennis has proposed a class action settlement to compensate individuals affected by a 2024 cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to customer data.
The Merchant of Tennis has entered into a proposed class action settlement regarding the legal proceedings initiated by Victor Estrada (Case No. 24STCV09656). The agreement aims to resolve claims stemming from a cybersecurity incident that resulted in the unauthorized exposure of personal information.
Under the terms of the settlement, individuals identified as impacted by the incident are eligible to receive cash payments and other compensatory benefits. The settlement administrator, Simpluris, Inc., is overseeing the claims process to distribute funds to those affected.
This legal development follows a rising trend in retail data privacy litigation, where companies face increasing scrutiny regarding the storage and protection of consumer records. The court will hold final proceedings to approve the settlement terms, which currently define the financial recovery available to members of the class.
