Meren Energy Exits Early Warning Reporting for Africa Energy Shares
Meren Energy announced it is no longer subject to early warning reporting requirements concerning its holdings in Africa Energy Corp. The change follows Africa Energy's completion of a private placement and Meren's prior sale of shares.

Meren Energy announced on August 20, 2026, that it is no longer required to comply with early warning reporting obligations regarding its security holdings in Africa Energy Corp. This adjustment comes after Africa Energy completed a private placement of 47 million common shares, announced on August 4, 2026. Meren had previously sold an aggregate of 5 million Africa Energy common shares on June 30, 2026.
The company's prior shareholding in Africa Energy had triggered the early warning reporting requirements. The recent private placement by Africa Energy increased the relative proportion of shares held by other investors, thereby reducing Meren's ownership stake below the threshold that mandates such reporting. The earlier sale of shares by Meren also contributed to this reduction.
Meren Energy is publicly traded on the TSX and Nasdaq Stockholm under the symbol MER, and on OTCQX under the symbol MRNFF. Africa Energy's shares are traded in Canada, Sweden, and the United States.
Early warning reporting rules are in place to ensure transparency in the market regarding significant share acquisitions in public companies, preventing sudden shifts in control.
