Messe Erfurt to launch childcare industry trade fair in 2027
Messe Erfurt will host the inaugural KITA EXPO Erfurt in October 2027. The biennial event aims to bridge the gap between early childhood education policy, practice, and industry suppliers.

Messe Erfurt is adding a specialized trade show to its portfolio with the launch of KITA EXPO Erfurt, scheduled for October 21–22, 2027. The event will focus on early childhood education, targeting childcare directors, pedagogical staff, and service providers.
The expo will function as both a convention and a trade fair, addressing industry challenges such as staff shortages and the evolving requirements for inclusive education. Erfurt University of Applied Sciences (FH) will serve as a core partner, integrating its regional diversity congress into the event to facilitate the transfer of academic expertise into practical childcare settings.
With approximately 60,000 daycare facilities operating in Germany, the Messe Erfurt management sees significant economic potential in connecting the sector's supply chain with educational institutions. The event aims to streamline communication between service providers—covering areas from furniture to catering and hygiene software—and the professionals who use them.
The initiative is under the patronage of Christian Tischner, Thuringia's Minister of Education. Organizers emphasize that the location builds upon the region’s long-standing pedagogical tradition, specifically the work of Friedrich Fröbel.
