Meta acquires AI coding startup Conductor

Meta has confirmed the acquisition of software development startup Conductor to bolster its AI agent capabilities and internal software engineering projects.

5 November 2026

Meta has acquired Conductor, a startup specializing in AI-driven programming tools that allow users to manage multiple software projects via distributed AI agents. The startup, founded in 2024, developed a platform that integrates models from providers like OpenAI and Anthropic to help developers handle isolated project tasks.

Charlie Holtz, CEO and founder of Conductor, announced the move via social media, confirming he will join the company's Superintelligence Labs. While Meta confirmed the transaction to media outlets, the company has declined to disclose the financial terms or specific strategic integration plans. As part of the transition, Conductor's cloud services are scheduled to terminate on November 20, with existing user data slated for deletion.

The acquisition serves as part of Meta’s broader strategy to close the gap with competitors in the AI-assisted development market. This follows the August launch of Meta’s own Muse Code tool and the company’s stated progress in scaling its AI agent ecosystem, which reportedly now serves over 10 million users.

Conductor’s team is expected to contribute to Meta's upcoming interface projects scheduled for early next year. The move highlights the ongoing consolidation of specialized AI engineering talent as large technology firms compete to integrate autonomous coding agents into their development workflows.
