Under the terms of the agreement, Meta will develop an age assurance standard that will be subject to independent testing. This standard must achieve a false positive rate of no more than 10 percent for users aged 16 to 17, and 3 percent for users aged 13 to 15.
The company will also provide teenage users with the option to turn off personalized feeds, meaning content will not be recommended based on Meta's algorithms. Push notifications will also be suspended for this age group.
