Meta Announces New AI Device Muse Charm

Meta introduced the Muse Charm at its Meta Connect event, a new artificial intelligence device described as a "digital pet" that operates with the Meta AI assistant. The device aims to offer users an interactive AI experience without the need for smart glasses.
The Muse Charm is a compact, always-on gadget featuring an approximately 2-inch OLED display. It is designed to be attached to items such as backpacks or keychains. The device includes a built-in 5G modem, enabling connection to Meta AI even without a Wi-Fi network. Development was led by Meta's new design lab, headed by former Apple interface design head Alan Dye.
Meta announced that the Muse Charm will be available for purchase during the holiday season. While a specific price has not been revealed, it is expected to be in the range of smartwatches. The device will feature a customizable virtual Muse character, allowing users to modify its appearance, voice, and other attributes. Additionally, Muse Charm units can identify and interact with each other when in proximity.
The device is capable of capturing photos and videos, primarily intended for the AI to gather visual information. Users can also view media taken on the device. Muse Charm supports music and video playback and includes a built-in speaker and microphone. The product's release was initially scheduled for 2027 but was accelerated to the end of 2026 at the request of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
