Meta Bans TikTok Ads Across Its Platforms
Meta has banned ads from TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, across the US and several other countries. The restriction went into effect on Thursday.

Meta has banned ads from ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of TikTok, across the US and several other countries, intensifying the rivalry between the major social media operators. The ban, which went into effect on Thursday, restricts ads and paid marketing messages from ByteDance, as well as third-party ads that link to TikTok.
"We don't have to run ads from a competitor whose goal is to pull people off our apps," Meta spokesperson Christopher Sgro said. "Declining promotional services to a competitor is a normal business practice across industries."
The move signifies a further escalation in the competition between Meta and TikTok. Both companies vie for the same users and advertising dollars, with TikTok's rapid growth posing a challenge to more established platforms.
Meta indicated it will continue to compete on price and product, suggesting this ban is part of a broader strategy to bolster its market standing.
