Meta Hires MongoDB CEO C.J. Desai for New Enterprise Unit

Meta Platforms, the social media giant, announced it has hired C.J. Desai, formerly the CEO of database services company MongoDB, as its chief enterprise platform officer. Desai will report directly to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Desai is tasked with leading Meta's new business division, Meta Enterprise Platform. The unit will initially focus on bringing Meta's full technology stack, including AI agents and APIs, to businesses and developers to support their growth.

The announcement led to a significant drop in MongoDB's stock value. The data services company saw its shares plummet following the news. Concurrently, MongoDB announced the appointment of Dev Ittycheria as interim president and CEO.

Desai's tenure as CEO of MongoDB lasted less than a year; he assumed the role in November 2025, succeeding Ittycheria who had served as CEO for 11 years. Meta's new enterprise-focused unit aims to leverage the company's extensive resources and technological expertise in the business market.
