Meta launches "Your Algorithm" tool on Facebook for personalized content recommendations

Meta has rolled out "Your Algorithm" on Facebook, an AI-powered tool allowing users to customize content recommendations using natural language prompts. The feature is not yet available in India.

Meta announced on October 13 the launch of "Your Algorithm" on Facebook, an AI-driven tool designed to give users more control over their content recommendations. The feature enables users to adjust suggestions for their Feed and Reels by using natural language prompts and providing feedback on individual posts.

The tool allows users to specify topics they wish to see more or less of. Meta states that its ranking systems incorporate these prompts and post-level feedback within the same session to refine recommendations. This initiative follows similar feature rollouts on Instagram and Threads earlier this year, aimed at enhancing user control over suggested content.

Users can access "Your Algorithm" via the three-dot menu on Facebook posts, where they can manage topics for their Feed and Reels. Additionally, users can select "Interested" or "Not interested" on specific posts, with Facebook potentially asking follow-up questions to better understand preferences.

Notably, "Your Algorithm" is not currently available in India. Previous testing of a similar feature, "Dear Algo," on Threads in the UK showed initial functionality but later exhibited issues with displaying content in unrelated languages, raising concerns about its accuracy.

Meta has been exploring the use of large language models (LLMs) in its recommendation systems. The company has indicated plans to integrate LLMs across its platforms to improve content relevance and user experience.
