Meta Releases New Open AI Model Muse Spark Open
Meta has released its open-weight AI model, Muse Spark Open. The company states it is the most capable US-based open-weight model released to date.
Meta has introduced Muse Spark Open, a new open-weight artificial intelligence model. The company claims it represents the most capable US-developed open-weight model available so far.
The Muse Spark Open model is built with a native multimodal architecture and supports a context window of up to 1 million tokens. It is designed for code generation and intelligent agent collaboration, demonstrating strong performance in handling long-range tasks, complex software engineering, and multi-step reasoning.
Leveraging the MLX framework, Muse Spark Open is notable for its ability to run locally on desktop systems. Specifically, it can operate on a Mac Studio equipped with just two Apple M5 Ultra chips with 512 GB of memory, a first for models of its class.
Developers can access Muse Spark Open through API platforms such as Baseten, Fireworks AI, and Google Cloud Model Garden, with model weights also available for download on Hugging Face and other platforms. The model has undergone post-training safety alignment and is released under a license that permits free use for most developers, with some restrictions on commercial applications.
