Meta Releases Open-Weight AI Model Designed for Macs
Meta has launched its Muse Spark Open AI model, designed to run locally on Mac computers. The model requires significant computing resources to operate.

Meta has released a new open-weight artificial intelligence model, Muse Spark Open, engineered to operate locally on Apple's Mac computers. The company claims this model is the most capable open-weight model available in the U.S.
The model utilizes 816 billion parameters and features a context window of one million tokens. Meta states that evaluation results show it outperforms other popular open-weight models. Muse Spark Open is natively multimodal and designed for complex coding tasks.
Running the model locally on Mac devices necessitates substantial computing power, requiring at least 1 terabyte of RAM. This suggests that high-end Mac models, such as the Mac Studio with an M5 Ultra chip, are best suited for its operation.
Meta has integrated Muse Spark Open with its Muse Code AI coding terminal. This release aligns with the growing trend of developing more powerful AI models capable of local execution for consumers and developers.
