Meta to end software support for Quest 2 and Quest Pro headsets in 2027
Meta has set March 2027 as the end date for new operating system updates for the Quest 2 and Quest Pro virtual reality headsets.

Meta announced that it will cease the release of new operating system updates for its Quest 2 and Quest Pro hardware by March 2027. Following the rollout of version v213, the company will transition to maintaining the devices solely through security patches and critical bug fixes until the end of that year.
The policy change also impacts software developers, as Meta will stop accepting new app submissions for the older headset models after December 2027. The company is currently positioning the Quest 3 and Quest 3S as the new baseline hardware for its virtual reality gaming ecosystem.
This lifecycle adjustment coincides with Meta’s broader hardware roadmap, which includes the release of new virtual reality glasses scheduled for spring 2027. By phasing out support for earlier models, the company aims to focus resources on its current and future product generations.
