Meta Unveils New Generation Smart Glasses, Reduces Camera Focus
Meta is expanding its smart glasses range at the Connect 2026 conference, introducing new models both with and without cameras. A new camera-free model emphasizes audio features.

Meta announced at its Connect 2026 developer conference a significant expansion of its smart glasses lineup, developed in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica. By the end of the year, over 100 variations are expected to be available under the Ray-Ban, Oakley, and Meta Glasses brands. Among the new offerings is a lighter model without a camera, named Ray-Ban Meta Audio.
The new Ray-Ban Meta Audio model focuses on audio functionalities, including music listening, podcasts, and phone calls. The absence of cameras and LED indicators allows for a slimmer design. Weighing 43 grams, the glasses offer up to 12 hours of battery life, with the charging case providing an additional 48 hours. Meta is offering the Meta Audio in two styles: the retro-inspired Clubmaster and the rectangular Burbank.
Customization options include adjustable temple tips and interchangeable nose pads for a better fit. Meta stated that the camera-free variant has been in development for two years, indicating it is not a direct response to recent privacy concerns. Brett Vogel, Vice President of Reality Labs Product Marketing, noted that audio is a key use case for Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
The existing Ray-Ban Meta line, which includes cameras, will also see new features. Meta and EssilorLuxottica are providing these models in 23 color and lens combinations, with sales starting October 13th at $349. Pre-orders are now open. The company continues to advance smart glasses technology, aiming to offer consumers diverse experiences and design choices.
