Meta Upgrades AI Assistant Muse for Continued Operation

Meta has rolled out significant updates to its AI assistant, Muse, which was launched earlier in September. The enhanced features enable Muse to integrate with a wider array of business tools and continue executing tasks even when users step away from their computers.

The company stated that the upgraded assistant can assist in running a small business. "You can walk away from your computer, and it keeps working for you on all the jobs you line up," said Meta's Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang during the company's Connect event.

Muse now supports integrations with platforms such as Notion, Granola, GitHub, and Box, allowing it to perform tasks by drawing on information from these services. Furthermore, the assistant's voice capabilities have been improved, enabling longer conversations and the ability to pull data or prepare documents while the user is engaged in other discussions.

New interaction methods increase flexibility. Muse is available on Mac computers and can operate on desktop applications. Users can also access it via Meta's new Ray-Ban smart glasses or a pocket-sized device called Muse Charm, scheduled for release in December. This expands the assistant's utility beyond the user's immediate workspace.

The updates follow a rapid adoption of the Muse assistant. Sensor Tower reported over 902,000 downloads within six days of its September 8 launch, surpassing ChatGPT and becoming the top downloaded free app in Apple's U.S. App Store.
