Meta Uses Deceptive Marketing for Muse AI Adoption
Meta is promoting its new AI agent, Muse, with advertisements that falsely claim users' friends are already using the service. Reports indicate these claims are often untrue.

Meta is employing a potentially deceptive marketing strategy to drive adoption of its new AI agent, Muse. The company has been showing advertisements that suggest users' friends are already using the application, a claim that multiple users have found to be inaccurate.
Muse, which is Meta's version of the popular OpenClaw AI, has rapidly climbed the iOS App Store charts. Meta aims to quickly build a large user base for the service. One tactic involves creating social pressure by implying that individuals within the user's social circle are already engaged with Muse.
Reports detail Instagram ads from Meta that include phrases such as "Stephen Robles, Primary Technology, Jason Aten and 14 others are on Muse." However, one user confirmed that a named individual, Stephen Robles, had never used the app, raising questions about the veracity of Meta's advertising claims.
This approach has sparked concerns about Meta's marketing practices, especially given prior controversies surrounding Muse, including its alleged ability to read private text messages without explicit user consent. The company's tactics appear focused on rapid user acquisition through questionable means.
