Metacon Launches 20 MW Electrolyser Module for Large Hydrogen Plants

Metacon AB has introduced a new 20-megawatt (MW) multi-level alkaline electrolysis module designed to facilitate the construction of large-scale hydrogen production plants.

The company states that the new modular design significantly reduces space requirements and lowers balance-of-plant costs. Metacon estimates that savings on steel structures can reach up to 30%, on piping systems up to 50%, and on area-related infrastructure up to 70% compared to conventional building-based solutions.

The module's launch comes at a time when scaling up industrial hydrogen production is critical. For large hydrogen production plants, the site area required per installed megawatt of capacity is an increasingly important factor, directly impacting investment costs and plant location.

The new module aims to address this challenge by offering a more compact and efficient solution that can contribute to scaling up green hydrogen production for industrial applications.
