Metacon Receives EU Funding for Biogas Green Hydrogen Project
Metacon's Greek subsidiary, Metacon SA, has secured EU funding for the PUREHY2+ project, aiming to develop an integrated system for producing high-purity green hydrogen from biogas while capturing carbon dioxide.

Metacon's wholly-owned Greek subsidiary, Metacon SA, has received EU funding amounting to EUR 188,018 for its participation in the PUREHY2+ project. The initiative focuses on creating an integrated system solution that allows biogas producers to generate high-purity hydrogen and capture carbon dioxide on-site.
The project aims to refine biogas, already produced from organic waste at numerous European sites, into high-purity green hydrogen. This would enable existing biogas plants to create an additional high-value product and expand local production and use of hydrogen.
The PUREHY2+ project is expected to contribute to Europe's energy transition by offering a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels and reducing industrial carbon footprints. The development of green hydrogen from biogas could support various sectors, including industry and transportation, in their decarbonization efforts.
This funding underscores Metacon's commitment to advancing clean energy technologies and supporting the circular economy by leveraging existing waste streams for valuable energy production, aligning with broader EU climate objectives.
