Metals Producers Trade Higher Despite Retreat in Commodity Futures
Several metal producers saw share prices rise on Tuesday, even as gold, silver, and copper futures pulled back following gains recorded on Monday.

Markets experienced a split in performance on Tuesday as commodity futures declined while several prominent metals producers climbed in share price. The pullback in futures followed a strong rally on Monday, with December copper falling over 2% by mid-day Tuesday, while gold and silver also saw notable percentage drops.
Ero Copper Corp. stood out among the producers, reporting record results for the third quarter of 2026. The company produced 18,345 tonnes of copper in concentrate, while gold output from its Xavantina operations rose 23% sequentially. CEO Makko DeFilippo attributed the positive performance to increased sales volumes and a foreign exchange hedge strategy. The company also successfully reduced its net debt by approximately $100 million during the quarter.
Nexa Resources also moved higher, reporting an adjusted EBITDA of $301 million, reflecting a 62% year-over-year increase. These corporate gains contrast with a broader market environment where, according to the World Gold Council, rising interest rates and a strong U.S. dollar continue to create potential headwinds for precious metals demand in the fourth quarter.
