Meta's AI to Use Public Instagram Photos for Content Generation
Meta has launched Muse Image, an AI model that can generate content using public Instagram photos. Users can disable this feature through their Instagram settings.

Meta has introduced Muse Image, its latest AI model for image generation, available through Meta AI, WhatsApp, and Instagram. The tool allows users to create high-quality AI-generated images from text prompts.
A key feature enables the use of public Instagram profiles for content creation. By mentioning an Instagram handle in a prompt, Meta AI can reportedly use public photos from that account to generate new images, potentially based on the account holder's likeness.
This functionality has raised privacy concerns among users, with some expressing apprehension about their public photos being used for AI-generated content without explicit consent. Meta has provided a mechanism for users to opt out.
Users with public Instagram profiles can prevent their content from being used by navigating to their profile settings, selecting 'Sharing and reuse,' and disabling options such as 'Allow people to create with and reuse your content' and 'Allow people to reuse your content on Instagram and with AI features at Meta.' Individual posts can also be excluded from this reuse through post-specific settings.
